Train to work as an engineer or a surveyor at construction sites
We offer specialist training to beginners, existing junior and senior engineers as well as graduates.
Finchley College is a leading provider of construction training courses for engineers, surveyors and managers with approved qualifications enabling them to apply for gold CSCS engineer surveyor or black construction contracting operations card.
We offer beginners an intensive 12 day course followed by post training support to ensure our learners are able to work as an engineer or a surveyor independetly and competently. We have trained over 1200 engineers and managers over the past 25 years. You may meet one of our former graduates in most construction sites in UK.

One day of a site visit by one of our assessors assessing learners at work, setting out and surveying

3 Days of college-based training for levelling, GNSS, traversing, principles of surveying, principles of levelling and surveying mathematics

Step 1: Complete the CITB Total Station for construction and levelling course

Step 2: Complete the advanced course mastering the use of Total Stations, GNSS for surveying and setting out

Step 3: Progress to the ProQual Level 3 Diploma for a further 3 days of training and revision at college including one day of AutoCAD training at reduced fees

Engineering Surveying beginner to intermediate level
CITB Assured short courses
The CITB Total Station for construction and levelling course is an ideal starter course for beginners and graduates. It will introduce you to Total Stations and levelling equipment, which are key for engineering and surveying.
This is a comprehensive training designed for beginners to intermediate level. After completing this course, you will be able to understand how to set out construction elements, survey sites, and carry out basic setting out and levelling using automatic, laser and digital levels on construction sites and surveying projects.
Duration: one week or three Saturdays and two Sundays in one month
Fee: £995 plus VAT
Certification: learners will receive a CITB assured certificate in Total Station for construction and levelling

Engineering Surveying
Advanced level
An intensive training in setting out and surveying by Total Stations, designed for learners who have completed the CITB course, as well as for graduates and junior engineers.
You will gain in-depth knowledge of how to use Total Stations, both manual and robotic, as well as GNSS, automatic, laser, and digital levels.
You will be able to read construction drawings, upload data to Total Stations, and set out walls, columns, piles, lift shafts, ground works, and work on RC and steel frame structures. You will also learn to use GNSS for surveying, setting out, and establishing site controls.
Duration: One week full-time or the first three Saturdays and two Sundays in one month.
Fee: £1195 plus VAT
Certification: To achieve a qualification, learners must have completed the CITB Total Station and levelling course and progress to the ProQual Level 3 Diploma in Engineering Surveying course.

ProQual Level 3 Diploma in Engineering Surveying
Training for existing engineers to achieve qualification and to apply for a gold CSCS engineer surveyor card
You will learn awarding body assessment criteria that are not part of daily work of an engineer, including;
Using GNSS, automatic and digital levels, traversing for checking existing or establishing new site controls, as well as local and global coordinate systems and conversions, principles of surveying and setting out, understanding of the basic concepts of BIM, laser scanners and detecting underground utilities.
Learners will be visited at their place of work for a day of on site assessment plus three days of college based training.
Duration: One day of site assessment plus three to four days college based training, and home study.
Fee: £1195 plus VAT for existing engineers
£695 plus VAT for beginners who have completed the CITB and the advanced level course
