About Finchley College

Finchley College is a specialized construction institution dedicated to training the engineers and managers of tomorrow. With over 30 years of experience, we have successfully trained more than 1,200 engineers and managers who are now employed across the UK and internationally. Our nationally and internationally recognized qualifications enable learners to apply for CSCS gold engineer surveyor or black manager cards. Engineering Surveying Courses

ProQual Level 3 Diploma in Engineering Surveying

This qualification is suitable for individuals who are experienced surveyors capable of collecting survey data to create accurate maps or engineering surveyors who can set out designed data from plans. The diploma requires the completion of five mandatory units:

1. L/615/5308 - Introduction to Surveying

2. R/615/5309 - Understanding Levelling in Surveying

3. J/615/5310 - Using a Total Station in Surveying

4. L/615/5311 - Using Global Navigation Satellite Systems

5. R/615/5312 - Setting out and other Construction-related Survey Technologies

Our courses

• Diploma in Engineering Surveying for existing engineers to achieve CSCS gold Engineers Surveyor card

  • Learners must be working on site with a minimum of 2 years site experience. Training and assessment will take place over 3 days at the college as well as a site visit by one of our assessors.​

  • Course Fee: £1,245 plus VAT (additional travel charges apply for sites more than 40 miles form London)

• Diploma in Engineering Surveying for beginners​

              To learners with little or no site engineering or surveying experience we offer 3 options to choose, all options include the Diploma in Engineering surveying but some with added courses to improve learners skills and employment prospects.

• Beginners to advanced level : Fee £3075 including VAT and certificate fees.

  • This course will prepare you to work as a junior engineer or a surveyor

  • Duration:  Weekends: 15 Saturday and Sunday morning or afternoon sessions over 3 months​

  • What you will study:

    • Level 3 Diploma in Engineering Surveying

    • AutoCAD student licence and short training

• Beginners to enhanced level: Fee £4175 including VAT and certification fees

  • Duration: Minimum of 24 morning or afternoon sessions over 6 months

  • What you will study: 

    • Diploma in Engineering Surveying​

    • AutoCAD student licence and long term training

    • Site engineering techniques, quality control, as built surveys

    • First aid at work

    • REVIT software for BIM

    • Plus a further 3 months of training in Setting out techniques by GPS and Total Stations

• Beginners to enhanced PLUS level​: Fee £6175 Including VAT and certification fees

• Duration: Minimum of 30 morning or afternoon sessions over six months

• Plus a further six months at workplace for Level 6 NVQ Diploma in Construction contracting Operations

• What you will study: 

  • Diploma in Engineering Surveying​

  • AutoCAD

  • Introduction to Building Information Modelling

  • Site engineering techniques, quality control, as built surveys

  • First aid at work​

  • Level 6 NVQ Diploma in Construction Contracting Operations

  • SSSTS health and safety

Select when to study

All classes are offered both in the morning and afternoons, learners should select mornings or afternoons and attend regularly at their chosen times and dates. You can start on the first Saturday or Monday of any month.

 

• Weekends: The first 3 Saturdays and  Sundays of each month, select from morning or the afternoon sessions

• Weekdays: the first week of every month for 3 months.

• Day release: Every Friday for 3 month

• Bespoke: We offer bespoke courses tailored for contractor engineers and surveyors.

• A combination of above: We can agree on an individual timetable to suit your requirements

Support Services

• CSCS Trainee Card: Assistance with registration and application for a red CSCS trainee card.

• CITB Touch Screen Safety Tests: Preparation support.

• Job Introduction: Introduction to recruitment agencies and potential employers upon completion of all units (job placement not guaranteed). Notification of Job vacancies and CV forwarding services are also provided.

Additional Training

• Monthly College Session: Following completion of their course learners can attend a monthly morning or an afternoon session a month to maintain proficiency with surveying equipment, for a few months subject to space availability.

​

Certification and Advancement

• Final Assessment: Earn your Diploma in Engineering Surveying upon successful completion.

• CSCS Gold Card: Apply for the gold CSCS Engineer Surveyor card.

Select how to pay:

• Pay in full in advance and receive from £50 to £200 off fees depending on the selected course

• Pay by instalment: We can agree on an individual instalment plan with each learner.

Upcoming Engineering Surveying Course Dates

• London: Classes start on the first Saturday or Monday of each month.

• Manchester: We offer this course as two blocks of 5 all-day sessions every other month, subject to a minimum number of learners, next course starts on Monday 16th of September to Friday 20th
