Graduate training program-intensive GNSS, Setting out and site surveying course
Surveying is an exciting, rewarding, and secure profession, there is a great demand for competent engineers and surveyors. This course is your gateway to the world of engineering and surveying and prepares you to work as an engineer or surveyor.
Graduate training market
- The market is very good; employers seek competent graduates who can easily work using surveying equipment. Search the CV library for site engineers or setting out engineers. Pay rates range from £120 to £25 per day.
You could earn about £1000 per week within a year.
Graduates have always had a tough time. We know this because we went through the same process many years ago. We understand the difficulties of securing employment for graduates.
Employers pay high rates to agencies and rightly expect value for money. Although recruitment agencies advertise for graduates, they are very reluctant to employ one who graduated a few years ago and cannot use Total Stations and other surveying instruments. It is significantly worse for overseas graduates.
They will ask probing questions to assess your suitability for the job. Our course will provide extensive training and support to help you succeed at job interviews.
The chances are that if you studied surveying at university, it would have been many years ago, and you have forgotten most, if not all, of what you learned. Universities don't do justice to their students. Most have too many learners in the class and too few instruments for you to practice. Teachers are not practicing engineers and are outdated with what goes on site.
Finchley College's graduate training program offers six intensive Saturday afternoons or six consecutive weekday training sessions. You will also achieve two single-unit certificates in setting out and using GNSS. Demonstrating your recent training and certificates to employers and agencies is essential.
You will learn to use Total Station and set out methods to help you succeed at job interviews and give you more confidence in your abilities to work as a junior engineer or surveyor.
Please note that this course does not offer full qualifications, as graduates are already highly qualified and six days is too short to cover all qualification syllabus, but you could gain two unit certificates in setting out and GNSS
